Canker Sores

Posted on: August 18, 2011

Canker Sores are small sores that develop on the inside or your mouth, on the tongue, inside the cheeks and on the inner lips. Though the exact cause remains unclear it is suspected that there is a combination of things that contribute to getting canker sores. Certain foods, hormonal changes, allergies are just a few suspected causes. Canker sores are often confused with cold sores. A canker sore is not caused by the herpes virus and does not occur on the outside of the mouth like a cold sore does. Most canker sores go away in a week or two. If you have persistent problems with canker sores that wont heal it is recommended that you see a physician.
